Megjegyzések:	ackground Conflicting data exist on the number of invariantNKT (iNKT) cells in atopic dermatitis (AD); furthermore, nodata have been published on their functional capacity.Methods The frequency and number of circulatingCD3+6B11+ iNKT cells and their CD4+ and CD4?subpopulations were evaluated in peripheral blood obtainedfrom 41 patients with AD by four-color flow cytometry.Likewise, functional properties of iNKT cells were measuredby five-color intracellular cytokine staining.Results The number and percentage of total iNKT cells andtheir CD4/CD8 subpopulations were significantly lowerthan the controls. Of further importance, the CD4?CD8?(double negative, DN) iNKT subgroup showed thestrongest positive correlation with total iNKT cells. Inaddition, the DN subgroup exhibited the most pronouncedfunctional alteration with significantly decreasedlevels of intracellular IFN? and significantly increasedlevels of intracellular IL-4 in AD patients compared withthe controls.Conclusion The significantly altered number and cytokineproduction of iNKT cells from AD patients suggests thatthese cells may play an important role in the pathogenesisof AD.

Megjegyzések:	Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (GPA) is an autoimmune small vessel vasculitis with unknown aetiology, characterized by necrotizing granulomatous inflammation affecting the renal, pulmonary, upper airways and ocular systems and is often associated with circulating Anti-Neutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibodies (ANCA) against proteinase 3.Here we report a presentation of GPA showing orbital involvement (without systemic involvement) with the classical histological triad, and also significant localized tissue eosinophilia which corresponds with the rare eosinophilic form of GPA. This variant of GPA should be differentiated from Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (EGPA); and the differential diagnosis between the two entities, and also the treatment of GPA is discussed.

Megjegyzések:	Minor labial salivary glands obtained at biopsy from patients with Sjögren's syndrome were investigated by immunomorphological methods for the presence of monocyte-derived macrophages. According to our observations published earlier the immunomorphological detection of factor XIII subunit a is a useful marker for recognizing cells of monocyte/macrophage lineage. Factor XIII subunit a was detected by a highly sensitive immunoperoxidase staining, and cells containing this coagulation enzyme were characterized by double immunofluorescence stainings. Factor XIII subunit a+ cells were found to be highly accumulated at the interface of normal tissue and peritubular infiltrate. In double immunofluorescence labelling systems factor XIII subunit a+ cells were simultaneously labelled by RFD7 and Dako-antimacrophage monoclonal antibodies. They also expressed HLA-DR antigen as revealed by a reaction with RFDR2 monoclonal antibody. The results suggest that monocyte-derived tissue macrophages are present in salivary glands of patients with Sjögren's syndrome and have a characteristic distribution. It can be assumed that they have a role in the demarcation of peritubular inflammation and thus have an effect on the progression of the disease.
