Megjegyzések:	In the platelets of a type II Glanzmann thrombasthenia patient, the amount of glycoprotein (GP) IIb and IIIa was significantly reduced. Three novel mutations were identified in the GPIIb gene (c.440C->G/p.Leu116Val, c.1772_1773insG/p.Asp560 GlyfsX16 and c.2438C->A/p.His782Asn). p.Leu116Val did not represent a causative mutation. The c.1772_1773insG mutation resulted in an early stop codon and nonsense mediated decay of mRNA. When expressed in transfected BHK cells, the truncated protein was unable to form complex with GPIIIa. The p.His782Asn mutation compromised transport of the pro-GPIIb/IIIa complex from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi, hindering its maturation and surface expression.

Megjegyzések:	The specific detection of fibrin monomer and fibrin degradation products is of high importance in the laboratory diagnosis of intravascular clotting (disseminated intravascular coagulation, deep vein thrombosis). The methods proposed until now are partly time-consuming, needing special laboratories or insensitive and poorly specific. Applying ristomycin instead of ristocetin (another member of the vancomycin antibiotics) a new simple, specific and sensitive method has been elaborated and recommended for the laboratory diagnosis of intravascular coagulation and its differentiation from primary fibrinogenolysis. The results obtained from in vitro and animal experiments and from human studies are presented.

Megjegyzések:	Platelet functions were studied in 64 patients with various myeloproliferative diseases. The characteristic alterations were prolonged bleeding time, decreased platelet aggregation (but normal results induced by ristomycin), elevated level of BTG, high production of MDA, increased level of TXB2 with almost normal level of 6-keto-PGF1. However, considering the bleeding time and the amount of BTG in relation to the whole blood platelet count, no differences could be detected.
