Megjegyzések:	The study provides a review of the human geographical contents of the Hungarian public education through the analysis of the requirements set by the frame curriculum and the maturity examination. The aim of the analysis is to provide a picture of the significance and potentials of the human geographical contents within public education, and of the role of the subject fulfilled within the maturity examination. In its present state, the Hungarian geographical education is bleeding from too many wounds. It is characterised by low and declining teaching hours, it is only an optional subject in the maturity examination, and it has hardly any weight in the entry to higher education. It may be seen both in the contents of the curriculum and in the tasks to be performed at the maturity examination that it has got specific features in its inner structural aspects, too. It is true in both respects that even the more traditional physical and regional geographical fields are appreciated higher than human geography. It should be changed and more emphasis should be given to human geographical knowledge. The opportunities afforded by the subject concentrations should be exploited (e.g. in respect to history, social studies, ethics), and such areas should be more intensively integrated into public education previously either not at all or only slightly represented. By the same token, as continuing the changes in the contents of the frame curriculum, emphasis should be given to economic knowledge, sociology, political sciences, and ethnography. These are, nevertheless, not unfamiliar fields but they belong to the research area of the modern human geography and thus can be easily integrated.
