Megjegyzések:The authors present a case of severe abdominal wall defect caused by amniotic band syndrome diagnosed by transvaginal sonography screening at the 12th week of pregnancy. The fetus was attached to the membranes by the herniated liver and bowels. The spine demonstrated kyphoscoliosis at the thoracic region resulting in the torsion of the pelvis and extremities. The correct identification of the umbilical cord insertion and its relation to the abdominal wall defect was performed by color Doppler mode. The importance of early sonographic screening for fetal anomalies is emphasized to detect those anomalies which are incompatible with postnatal life.
