Cím:A new model of finite-source retrial queues with multi-state server's breakdown / Bérczes Tamás, Kuki Attila, Almási Béla, Sztrik János, Pascal Moyal
Dátum:2013
Megjegyzések:This paper deals with unreliable systems, where the performance of the system can be experienced in different levels of health between the perfect and the failed states. The underlying model is a single server retrial queue with a finite number of homogeneous sources of requests and a single non-reliable server. The server is subject to random deteriorations and breakdowns depending on whether it is busy or idle. The operations of the system might be blocked or unblocked by the failure of the server and the service of the interrupted request may be resumed or the request can be transmitted to the orbit. All random variables involved in the model constructions are supposed to be exponentially distributed and totally independent of each other. The novelty of the investigation is the levels of goodness of a system in case of finite sources of requests. The transitions of states of the server depend on its working status (ie., busy or idle), which makes the system rather complicated. The MOSEL-2 tool was used to formulate and solve the problem. The main performance and reliability measures were calculated.

Cím:Tool supported modeling of sensor communication networks by using finite-source priority retrial queues / Tamás Bérczes, János Sztrik, Péter Orosz, Pascal Moyal, Nicolaos Limnios, [ill.] Stylianos Georgiadis
Dátum:2012
ISSN:1844-9689
Megjegyzések:The main aim of the present paper is to draw the attentionof the readers of this special issue to the modelingissues of sensor networks. The novelty of this investigation is the introduction of servers vacation combined with priority customers for finite-source retrial queues and its application to wireless sensor networks. In this paper we analyze a priority finite-source retrial queue with repeated vacations. Two types of priority customers are defined, customers with priority 1 (P1) go directly to an ordinary FIFO queue. However, if customers with priority 2 (P2) find the server in busy or unavailable state go to the orbit. These customers stay in the orbit and retry their request until find the server in idle and available state. We assume that P1 customers have non-preemptive priority over P2 customers. The server starts with a listening period and if no customer arrive during this period it will enter in the vacation mode. When the vacation period is terminated, then the node wakes up. If there is a P1 customer in the queue the server begin to serve it, and when there is no any P1 customer, the node will remain awake for exponentially distributed time period. If that period expires without arrivals the node will enter in the next sleeping period. All random variables involved in model construction are supposed to be independent and exponentially distributed ones. Our main interest is to give the main steady-state performance measures of the system computed by the help of the MOSEL tool. Several Figures illustrate the effect of input parameters on the mean response time.

Cím:A Fluid Limit for the Engset Model, An Application to Retrial Queues / Stylianos Georgiadis, Pascal Moyal, Tamás Bérczes, János Sztrik
Dátum:2013
Megjegyzések:We represent the classical Engset-loss model by the stochastic process counting the number of customers inthe system. A fluid limit for this process is established for all the possible values of the various parametersof the system, as the number of servers tends to infinity along with the number of sources. Our results arederived through a semi-martingale decomposition method. A numerical application is provided to illustratethese results. Then, we represent a finite-source retrial queue considering in addition the number of sources inorbit. Finally, we extend the fluid limit results to a retrial queueing system, discussing different cases.
