Cím:Description of the smooth rms charge radius surface R(N,Z) and prediction of neutron skin by a two-liquid drop model / I. Angeli
Dátum:2006
ISSN:1219-7580 1588-2675
Megjegyzések:The smooth N and Z dependence of nuclear rms charge radii is interpreted by a two-liquid drop model with ?p + ?n = ?0 = const. Proton and neutron radii Rp and Rn are given in closed form. In addition to rms charge radii, the model yields the nucleon number dependence of the skin thickness ,s, e.g.ds = 0.00124 ? dA for Sn isotopes, in agreement with experimental results and theoretical calculations. A strong correlation between the two global parameters of the model ? including sst the skin thickness of the stable isotope? is established. If sst is taken from experiment, the other parameter is also fixed; this parameter (m) characterizes the restoring force responsible for the skin thickness. Its value m=2.2 suggests that ? in addition to the numberof nucleons in the skin ? the skin thickness also influences the distribution of "surplus" nucleons between volume and skin.

Cím:Barrett moments and rms charge radii / I. Angeli
Dátum:2002
ISSN:1219-7580 1588-2675
Megjegyzések:An empirical relation is established between Barrett equivalent radii Rk,? and rms charge radii < r 2 >1/2 based on the results of model-independent and Fermi model analyses of 2p -> Is transitions in muonic atoms. This relation follows simple Z dependence, and can be usefully applied to derive rms radii < r 2 >1/2 or differences <?AA' < r 2 >1/2 in cases where only Rk,alpha data or isotope shifts <?AA'Rk,? are published. The atomic number dependence of the Barrett parameters k(Z) and ?(Z) is also given by empirical formulae. It is shown that the Barrett moment can be expanded in a sum of integer moments < r m > (m 2: 2) using an effective exponential parameter ?eff(Z), The moments < r m > and isotopic differences <? < r m > of the two-parameter Fermi distribution expressed in terms of the parameters c and a are given in the Appendix for m = 1 - 10.

Cím:Possible improvements in the derivation of - from optical isotope shifts / Angeli István
Dátum:2003
Megjegyzések:It is shown that writing the correction factor K in the proper form, the value of ?r2 derived from the optical isotope shift may be made more reliable. Instead of the generally used parabolic Z dependence, the quantity 1? K depends primarily on the actual slope ?r2/?A, which may vary considerably from one isotope pair to another. This slope dependence is illustrated first for a spherical uniform nuclear charge distribution. Then, the case of the more realistic two-parameter Fermi charge distribution is investigated. Practical formulae of 1 ? K are given for both model distributions. The improved evaluation is especially important in cases where ?r2 values are much lower or higher than the liquid drop value. In these cases the improvement in ?r2 values may lead to substantial changes in nuclear structure characteristics, e.g. in deformation parameters. Results are compared to those obtained by an alternative approach, the "two-parameter model" based on a deformed uniform distribution.

Cím:Evaluation procedure for nuclear RMS charge radii / I. Angeli
Dátum:1991
ISSN:0231-4428
Megjegyzések:Data sources are listed and an evaluation procedure is described that have been used recently to derive the best values of nuclear root-mean-square (RMS) charge radii measured by fast electron scattering and muonic atom X-rays. The evaluation procedure consists of two algorithms. The first one performs a search for discrepant data "outliers" together with an eventual reassignment of their errors; this algorithm is active only for groups containing at leastn=5 data. The second algorithm forms a weighted mean and its error for each data group; it takes into account both external and internal consistencies. An illustrative Table of input data as well as a Table of "1990 best values" of nuclear RMS charge radii are also included.
