Megjegyzések:Dust samples needed for the research was put at our disposal in great amount by the DKCE power station of Debrecen. In the station dust filtration of air takes place in more steps, which provides us strained of on the coarse filters in the range of 2000 ?m to 10 ?m, while between 10 ?m to 1 ?m on the fine filters. Those particles that manage to get across the filter system can be collected by the off-line washing of the turbine area. This fraction will contain fragments which are particular concern to human health as they can not only get into the lung but can attach to the alveoli. Dust sample collected in the city centre, nearby a railway station and a congested vehicular bridge contains all the contaminants that are imposed on the inhabitants of a typical big city. It is established from the size range distribution of samples collected from the coarse filters that almost 90% of the particles are under 63 ?m. We determined the chemical composition of dust by using highly sensitive analytical methods after setting aside the most appropriate sampling and preparatory processes. By the side of the inorganic components, dust samples contain pollen and smut particles in higher amount, as well as spherules.

Megjegyzések:We have worked out several chromium speciation and pre-concentration methods with the use of the GFAAS technique. These methods were based on classical and continuous liquid-liquid extraction techniques using a patented continuous extraction device. For the separations and enrichments of chromium species was used ion-pair compound. As an application we have determined the Cr(III) and Cr(VI) content of water using these separation/enrichment methods and the GFAAS technique. The advantage of these methods is the cost effectiveness, high chromium species enrichment and easy use with GFAAS technique, therefore the concentration of the chromium species can be determined at the ng/L level.

Megjegyzések:We have developed a new technique based on the rules of high-temperature processes in flame for the indirect determination of sulphur dioxid, sulphuric acid and phosphoric acid in natural samples by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). The main point of the method is the difference in atomizaton of various inorganic salts of magnesium based on their thermal differences. In particular the magnesium perchlorate gives 10 times greater absorbance signal than the magnesium sulphate in the same concentration. The absorption of sulphur dioxide from air in hydrogen peroxide gives sulphuric acid, which can be determined by the previously mentioned method. The detection limit of the new method for sulphuric acid is 1.5?10-6 mol/L while the range of determination for is 3?10-6 - 4.1?10-5 mol/L. Since FAAS is one of the fastest analytical methods, our indirect FAAS acid determination is capable for serial analysis. With this new method we have determined the sulphuric acid content of the atmosphere of a battery recharging facility.

Megjegyzések:During our work we are going to introduce the following methods: using bioindication for high school education, popularizing an effective method for environmental education, providing exercise focused professional knowledge. The Belgian Ministry of Public Health started to use the Belgian Biotic Index method in 1978, which was tested by several laboratories, and used as the official biological water labeling method since 1984. BBI's simplified version, which can be used also for secondary school education, is the BISEL, which is fast, does not require huge investment, and integrates the taxonomy, the ecology and chemistry. We use zoological taxonomy to determinate macroinvertebrate taxa. Familiarizing the program for wider audience should be a good opportunity to educate natural science in a more effective, exercise focused way. Our most important result is that these can be executed by high school students, who should gain routine on field work and water quality monitoring; therefore we can help their environmentally aware development. One of the most important tasks of these schools is to create the chance for the new generation, so they will be able to operate local communities in a sustainable way.
