Megjegyzések:Az elmúlt 150 évben az Észak-Amerikában és Európában épült stadionok folyamatos fejlődésen mentek keresztül. A kezdeti időszak minimális kényelmet biztosító, alacsony minőségű létesítményeivel szemben, napjainkban egyre nagyobb szerepet töltenek be a nézőket magas színvonalon kiszolgáló, legfejlettebb technikai újításokat is felvonultató beruházások. Ebbe a fejlődési folyamatba illeszkedik a multifunkcionális stadionok utóbbi 15-20 évben megfigyelhető térhódítása, amely mögött többek között gazdaságossági és városfejlesztési szempontok állnak. Hasonló folyamatok figyelhetők meg a Debrecenben található Nagyerdei Stadion esetében is. Az 1930-as években épült létesítmény a múlt század végére igen rossz állapotba került, és felújítása/újjáépítése során igen nagy figyelmet szenteltek a multifunkcionalitásnak. Ennek eredményeként a stadion alapvetően rendelkezik mindazon adottságokkal, amelyeket a hasonló nagyságú létesítmények biztosítanak. Egyedi tulajdonságának tekinthető ugyanakkor az egészségiparral kapcsolatban álló szolgáltatások magas színvonala, amely elsősorban azzal magyarázható, hogy a Debreceni Egyetem is fontos szerepet tölt be a hasznosításában.

Megjegyzések:As a result of the stadium construction wave recently observed in North America and Europe, the question of the cost-effective operation of these facilities entered the foreground. Formerly, researchers advocated that these sports facilities had no significant positive economic impact, and no considerable increasing effect can be observed in terms of workplaces, personal incomes, or local tax revenues. In recent years, however, many researchers attribute a serious economic impact to particular facilities, including the so-called multifunctional stadiums, which are used for purposes other than one particular sports activity. The aim of our study, after summarising the factors leading to the establishment of multifunctional stadiums and the most important characteristics of the completed facilities, is to demonstrate the various utilization possibilities through the case study of the Great Forest Stadium in Debrecen. As an outcome of the research, it may be concluded that the facility has all features (conference room, catering unit, own shop, etc.) that are typical for medium-sized stadiums. Besides, the services related to health sciences constitute unique elements that can be explained by the activities of the higher education institution of the city, the University of Debrecen, which considers the Third Mission activities as particularly important.

Megjegyzések:The scope of tasks organised and performed by settlements and their leaders has continuously broadened since the beginnings of time. Initially, the leaders of settlements were primarily expected to provide for the safe operation of the settlement, the creation of the conditions of commerce, as well as the administration of justice. However, from the 18th and 19th centuries onward, settlements started to play an increasingly important role also in the areas of education, social and healthcare services. In the 20th century, parallel with the spread of the notion of the welfare state, activities related to the useful spending of free time have gained importance, among which, in addition to culture -primarily in the most recent times -sports has played an increasingly significant role as well. The aim of this paper is to explore the possible areas of researching the relationships between settlements and sports. Further developing the tetrahedron model of the settlement, the truncated triangular pyramid model has been created, the two bases of which are the natural environment and the municipal administration, while the sides are the infrastructural, economic and social spheres. The paper will present the results of and further possibilities in sports- related research aimed at each of these spheres, as well as the sports- related characteristics of the interactions taking place along the edges of the truncated triangular pyramid.
