Megjegyzések:The chemiluminescence (CL) induced by zymosan phagocytosis was tested in mouse peritoneal macrophages infected with three different types of herpes viruses: herpes simplex type-1 (HSV-1), human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) and murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV). The intensity of CL was tested in various intervals of virus infections. In the first eight hours zymosan induced chemiluminescence decreased in all the three systems. By the 24th hour, the macrophages infected with HCMV had almost completely recovered from the early defect, while in the macrophages infected with both HSV-1 and MCMV, the chemiluminescence induced by zymosan remained impaired.

Megjegyzések:Preincubation of human monocytes with different amounts of human lymphokine at 37 degrees C dose dependently increased the uptake of EA cells at both 37 degrees C and 4 degrees C. Phenylmethanesulphonyl fluoride (PMSF), an inhibitor of serine esterases, inhibited the process. It seemed that the serine esterase and not the gamma interferon component of the lymphokine played the main role in the phenomenon.

Megjegyzések:Macrophage disappearance reaction was induced in normal (non-sensitized) guinea pigs by human lymphokines deriving from Con A-stimulated lymphocytes, by ellagic acid (an activator of intrinsic coagulation) and by thromboplastin (an activator of extrinisic coagulation). The results are discussed from the aspect of the pathomechanism of macrophage disappearance reaction.

Megjegyzések:Macrophage disappearance reaction was induced by intraperitoneal injections of specific antigens in Rana esculenta sensitized by bovine gamma globulin and Mycobacterium bovis BCG. Rabbit lymphokines derived from concanavalin A stimulated blood lymphocytes injected intraperitoneally were able to induce macrophage disappearance reaction in normal Rana esculenta. This suggests that mammalian lymphokines are capable of acting in amphibia. Mammalian lymphokines have not an exclusive class-specificity in vertebrates.
