Megjegyzések:	The measurement of luminol enhanced chemiluminescence of phagocytes - stimulated by Mannozym (zymosan) - in the first 60 minutes of the reaction is a well-known method for the characterization of the activity of human peripheral phagocytes. It became clear only recently, that the phenomenon - photoemission during phagocytosis - has a later, second period, too, the result of which may change seriously the data achieved from the measurement of the first phase (first 60 minutes). In their recent work the authors describe the slight modification of chemiluminescence assay based upon the longer-term measurement of photoemission of phagocytes using the widely spread beta-particle counters, in standard and reproducible circumstances, on a considerably cheap way. They give further data on the mechanisms of chemiluminescence, too, supporting the view, that in both of the cell-activation cycles producing photoemission the NADPH-oxidase and the myeloperoxidase enzymes may have an important role.

Megjegyzések:	Forty sera were investigated by a conventional anti-Sm/RNP ELISA and a new, recombinant anti-U1-RNP ELISA and a new recombinant anti-U1-RNP ELISA. All the sera contained anti-Sm/RNP antibodies. On the basis of their negative or low-positive anti-Sm results 33 of them was thought to contain anti-U1-RNP (conventional method), while 31 samples showed anti-U1-RNP by the recombinant ELISA system. The overall agreement was 80 per cent, and we found a significant correlation between the level of anti-Sm/RNP and anti-U1-RNP antibodies (r=0.83; p<0.001). We obtained different results in 8 cases. Western blot analysis was performed to investigate the autoantibody profile of these sera, and in 6 cases the results of the recombinant ELISA were confirmed. We concluded that although the majority of the anti-U1-RNP antibodies can be detected by the conventional anti-Sm/RNP assay, the new recombinant anti-U1-RNP ELISA assures more accuracy.
