Megjegyzések:Nowadays the main task of scientists is to find natural ways of improving plant productivity that lead to environmentally friendly agriculture. Biofertilizers have a great potential to achieve this aim but unfortunately there is little information about its application in fruit growing mostly in Hungary. For this reason, a foliar nutrition experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of two biofertilizers (an algae product and a biostimulator, containing amino acids) on leaf nutrient concentration and quality parameters of apple (Malus domestica Borkh.) fruits. The study was conducted in 2014 at Újfehértó in East Hungary in a 14 year-old organic apple plantation on cv. `Remo`. Treatments (application time and doses) were adjusted to the phenological phases of apple. Effect of treatments was monitored by soil and leaf analysis, apple quality measurements and field observations. Usage of biofertilizers resulted greener and healthier leaves. Treatments had no significant effect on leaf N, P, Mg and micronutrients but using algae suspension increased leaf K and Ca content significantly. Biofertilizers increased size and weight of apples but did not affect the fruit quality compared to the control. Treatments decreased the fruit firmness which may be explained by a diluting effect in fruits. Higher apple size resulted softer tissues.

Cím:Plant nutritional and environmental aspects of organic apple production in East Hungary / Nagy Péter Tamás
Dátum:2017

Megjegyzések:The recent surge in interest in fruit growing without the use of agrochemicals in order to safeguard environmental and human health has led to increased awareness of organic fruit production (OFP). Despite the widespread use of the method, there is little information on its nutritional aspects, especially in Hungary. Therefore, the aim of this three-year study was to investigate the nutrient status in an organic apple management system and the impact of nutrient applications on nutrient uptake and on the environment. The research was undertaken at the orchard Fruit Research Station of the University of Debrecen in Debrecen-Pallag, Hungary, during 2009-2011. Three cultivars ('Reanda', 'Rewena', and 'Retina') were selected for the study. In the plantation, only organic manure was applied (stable manure, 30 t ha-1 , in 2007). The effect of organic methods was monitored by soil and leaf analyses, as well as field observations. Leaf analysis results indicated significantly lower N, K, Mn, Cu and Zn content in cultivar ♭Retina' than in ♭Reanda' and ♭Rewena'. Results suggested that mobility and availability were unbalanced and obstructed, especially in the case of Ca. The study also demonstrated that the lower nutrient content of soil and also the generally poorer uptake of Ca and Zn in organic apple orchards resulted in higher production risks as compared with conventional or integrated ones. We conclude that a more balanced and more efficient nutrient supply system is needed for organic farms in order to achieve good quality and profitable yield.

Cím:Microalgae cultivation integrated into agro-industrial wastewater treatment / Pacha-Herrera David, Nagy Péter Tamás, Magyar Tamás

Megjegyzések:The world demands more and more energy due to the continuous population increase. In parallel, high organic and nutrient contents of wastewater streams are generated from anthropogenic activities like urbanization, industrialization, and agricultural practices. The continuous discharge of these wastewater streams into water bodies has been considered responsible for oxygen depletion and eutrophication in the environment. Integrating microalgae cultivation into wastewater treatment can be a promising solution to produce renewable energy while removing pollutants. In contrast to several review articles published about microalgae cultivation on different wastewater streams, the current review is focusing mainly on microalgae-based wastewater treatment on agricultural waste streams. Hence, first of all, the main characteristics of different agricultural streams will be described, then microalgal consortia cultivation, as well as monoculture strains, will be evaluated. Moreover, the photobioreactor systems for agricultural wastewater treatment will also be summarized. Finally, harvesting methods for microalgae recovery will be presented.

Cím:Effects of organic composite fertilizer on soil nitrogen status and mineralization / Florence Alexandra Tóth, Gizem Yuksel, János Tamás, Péter Tamás Nagy
Dátum:2023
ISSN:2416-2140
Megjegyzések:A short-term soil incubation experiment was set up to obtain information to clarify the effect of our developed organic composite fertilizer on soil nitrogen mineralization. The composite was designed to have beneficial effects on the properties of chicken manure and to improve soil water management properties in addition to organic matter replenishment. In the incubation experiment, two different additives, bentonite, and super absorbent polymer, were used to enhance the properties of fermented chicken manure. Developed prototype products were tested in a four-week-long soil incubation experiment in two typical Hungarian soils: brown forest soil with a sandy texture and chernozem soil at two different water capacities (40 w/w % and 60 w/w %). Soil pH, and inorganic nitrogen forms, like nitrate and ammonium, were measured weekly. Furthermore, the potentially mineralized nitrogen and net mineralization rate were calculated. The applied composite was not affected the soil pH significantly in the examined period. The soil nitrate and ammonium ratio was changed during the incubation as the ammonium content in the soil decreased while nitrate content increased continuously throughout the experiment. This suggests that the incubation experiment successfully monitored the delicate balance of soil nitrogen forms. It was found that the chernozem soil type had a higher mineralization potential compared to brown forest soil due to its higher nutrient and organic matter contents. Moreover, our results pointed out that soil moisture content did not significantly affect the mineralization process. The amount of mineral nitrogen, generated per week can be described by a linear relationship for both soil types and water regimes. The composite product showed efficacy in promoting mineralization processes, particularly in soils with low nutrient status and mineralization potential.
