Megjegyzések:Plants are continuously exposed to the changes in the environment, because of their sessile nature. Since environmental disruptions may occur numerous times in a plant's life, it is advantageous for them to remember past incidents. The safety and stability of crop production is increasingly put at risk by the presence of abiotic stress factors associated with climate change (drought, heat stress etc.) [1]. The creation of the stress memory requires the perception and recognition of stresses, and then the ability of the plant to react to them by using their genetic and epigenetic properties, the latter of which can be both inherited and learned. We can categorize plant memory depending on the duration of gene activation/silencing and the inheritance. There are somatic, intergenerational, transgenerational memories [2]. Epigenetics is a form of gene inheritance that do not include changing the DNA sequence. However, epigenetic changes take part in the control of gene expression through DNA methylation, histone modifications and smallRNAs. The changes in the chromatin structure ensure different transcription profiles. The differentiation of the cells, and the development of the plant is controlled through turning on/off the adequate genes at the right place and time. The research results based on genomic, transcriptomic and epigenetic memory can be used in future plant breeding, climate-smart crop breeding which is important for agricultural reasons [3].
