Megjegyzések:	New type forest decline started in 1979-80 and until now alarge-scale decline of oaks appeared which had serious consequences in the structure and function of the shrub layer too. The structural parameters were recorded in the low shrub layer in a 48 x 48 m "A" plot in 2007 and in 2008. According to our hypothesis, it isn't expected considerably changes of the low shrub species during one year in the number of the individuals, in the proportion of the density and in the average sizes. The dominant shrubs will be remaining those species which could be able to develop policormon.

Megjegyzések:	The aim of the present study was to examine the short- and long-termeffects of changes in vegetation structure caused by shrub removal and mowing on isopoddiversity and composition in Natura 2000 habitats of Mátra Landscape Protection Area.Species richness and isopod diversity increased in the short term as a result of annualchanges in vegetation; however, the values of both indices were reduced in the long term.The changes in vegetation structure on a regional scale led to a reduced isopod diversity inthe short and long term. The changes in vegetation structure caused alterations incommunity structure in the long term. We conclude that changes of vegetation structurehave a negative effect on species richness and the diversity of isopod communities in thelong term.

Megjegyzések:	In this study, we research ground-dwelling arthropods along four road stretches, which represent the main verge habitats (arid grassland, agricultural area, forest, and wetland) of Hungary. Besides the faunistic investigation of arthropod communities, we described and compared dominance relation and species composition. We identified 83 carabids, 81 spiders, and 4 isopod species. Seven beetle species and one spider species are included in the invertebrate Red List of Hungary. The registered species were dominant on main road verges bordering arid grassland and wetland. Main road verges proved to be a diverse habitat; hence, it is important to carry on more investigation.
