Megjegyzések:	Between 1978 and 1997 39 patients (29 female and 10 male) were treated for essential thrombocythaemia (ET). Their survival rate is 80.6 (1-222 months), 4 patients died. At the time of the diagnosis, the median thrombocyte count was 1015 (681-2360) x 109\l, haemoglobin 131 (76-167) g\l, WBC 10.4 (2.7-29.4) x 109\l, GAPA score 130 (10-286). At the beginning, 8 patients were treated with low dose Myleran (busulfan), later 10 patients with Myelobromol (dibromannitol), then 8 patients with Litalir (hydroxyurea) and 15 patients with interferon (Roferon-A or Intron A). In the latter group 7 patients received only interferon therapy, while for 8 patients interferon therapy was supplemented by Myleran, Myelobromol or Litalir. It has been concluded that complete remission of the disease can be achieved by all these drugs but with Myelobromol it is faster. Short-time remission (1-10 months) was achieved with interferon within 3-15 months (median 5.5). Interferon, employed as a first therapeutic agent proved to be effective in all the patients (5 CR, 2 PR). Antineoplastic therapy as primary treatment was ineffective in 20-37.5 per cent of patients. These therapeutic methods can be combined. Low-dose acetyl salicylic acid was effective in relieving complaints of hand and foot torpidity. The most severe complication was thrombosis of the portal and splenic veins in two cases, respectively. PMID:10349322
