Megjegyzések:This article investigates the leisure and travel behavior of Hungarian dog owners, focusing on their preferences for destinations and activities that accommodate their canine companions. The study utilizes a comprehensive methodological approach, including a quota sample of Hungarian dog owners, an online selfreported questionnaire, and advanced statistical analyses such as robust factor analysis with Robust Diagonally Weighted Least Square (RDWLS) extraction and clustering of factor scores, to explore the dynamics of pet inclusive tourism. Results reveal distinct clusters of dog owners with varying leisure preferences and demonstrate significant associations between these preferences and destination choices, underscoring the importance of dogfriendly accommodations and activities. The findings highlight a shift towards personalized tourism experiences catering to dog owners, suggesting that destinations should adopt inclusive practices to attract this demographic. This research contributes to the understanding of petinclusive tourism, offering practical implications for destination marketers and service providers worldwide to better accommodate traveling dog owners.

Megjegyzések:Dogs, as companion animals, have many positive effects on the health and quality of life of dog owners, if the purpose of dog ownership is not as a watchdog but as a companion animal. Dogs can encourage the owner to engage in daily walks, play, sports and other interactions, which are beneficial for physical, mental and social well-being, as has been proven by various studies. The aim of our research was to investigate the role and impact of dogs on dog owners' physical activity, dog interactions and mental health. To achieve our goal, we created an online questionnaire that was completed by 220 dog owner respondents. Our research sought to understand how dog owners develop a relationship with their companion animal, the role of the dog in their active leisure time and the impact of the dog on the owner's mental health. We used a four-part questionnaire to obtain our answers. The first part covered demographic questions, the second part focused on the respondent's dog and the time spent with him/her doing sports. In the third part, the Monash Dog-Owner (MDORS) (Cavo et al., 2016) questionnaire was used and in the last part, the Mental Health Test was used. Our research has confirmed that exercising with dogs has positive effects on humans. Walking with a dog encourages exercise and also encourages the owner to spend time outdoors. Around 26% of the people in the study exercise together and 77.3% walk with their dog. The mental health of dog owners is medium and the level of happiness is above average. These results confirm that promoting dog ownership can help to achieve the objectives of public health strategies to encourage people to be more active, to exercise or to improve quality of life and health.

Megjegyzések:Our study examines sports participation among socioeconomically disadvantaged children in Slovakia, with a focus on identifying barriers and motivational factors influencing their involvement. Utilizing a cross-sectional design, data was gathered from students in public schools across southern Slovakia`s least developed districts, employing a stratified sampling method to ensure diverse socioeconomic representation. The primary instrument was a self-administered questionnaire which captured data on demographics, sporting habits, and perceived barriers to sports participation. The results indicate significant disparities in sports engagement between disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged children. Disadvantaged children reported higher barriers to participation, notably financial constraints, limited accessibility to facilities, and lack of social support from family and community. Despite these barriers, sports are viewed as a potential medium for enhancing social inclusion and personal development among these children. The findings suggest the need for targeted interventions to reduce these barriers, such as improved accessibility to sports facilities, financial support, and community-driven sports programs. This study contributes to understanding the multifaceted impact of socioeconomic status on sports participation and highlights the importance of sports in fostering social equity and health benefits among disadvantaged youth.
