Megjegyzések:Understanding the habitat is essential for economic production. As a result of rapidly changing processes, features of habitats may be modified, it may be affected by a wide variety of factors. Inundation caused by inland-excess water (IEW) is one of the most significant natural disasters but spatial and temporal targeting of it is also a problem in practice. Over half of Hungary's territory is endangered by IEW. For the development of inland-excess waters a combination of several adverse natural and human activity is highly important. The formation of IEW is primarily determined by meteorological, soil and terrain conditions. During the research, the causes of the development of IEW were analysed based on the terrain conditions of the area in a grassland. Soil connections have been well explored according to the other studies, but not as terrain causes. Therefore the applicability of digital elevation models based on remote sensing (high density LiDAR) data and Sentinel 1 data in inland areas is a priority area of our research. To examine the relief, elevation data of conventional analog topographic maps with 1:10000 scale and an aerial LiDAR data were compared. Sentinel 1 data were used to validate the results based on the LiDAR data. Based on digital elevation model (DEM) derived from topographical map shows that there is no risk of IEW on the grassland. It is, however, contradicted by the reality, the inland marshes presents on grassland land during on-site visits and which can be identified by the LiDAR and Sentinel 1 images.

Dátum:2023
Megjegyzések:Most of the climate scenarios forecast increased water scarcity in semi-arid and arid areas, such as Hungary. Since only 2% of Hungary`s agricultural land is irrigated where mostly outdated irrigation technology is applied, there is a huge need for act to enhance advanced irrigation. The general aim of the present research was to develop the basis of variable rate irrigation for a water-saving precision sprinkler irrigation system on an maize site (85 ha) located in the reference area of the Tisza River Basin. There are limited available water resources at the site, therefore alternative water sources utilization system was set up for irrigation to adapt to climate change and reduce fertilizers. As the alternative water resource for irrigation, inland excess water, treated wastewater, and biogas fermentation sludge are collected in a water reservoir with a capacity of 114,000 m3 . For proper irrigation scheduling, heterogeneity of topography, hydrological, soil and crop conditions have to be explored and monitored. For this reason, UAV-based surveys were carried out with high spatial and temporal resolution by which DEM, DSM, multispectral vegetation data was conducted both on irrigated and non-irrigated parts of a maize field in Hungary this site. Supplementing these data with physically based modelling of the soil and crop status, and the water balance surveying is tested to use for accurate irrigation scheduling. In the surveys we used a DJI Matrice 300 RTK UAV drone equipped with a Zenmuse L1 LiDAR payload with integrated RGB Surveying Solution and a DJI Zenmuse H20T thermal camera, which measures in the spectral range from 8000 to 14,000 nm. A DJI Mavic 2 Zoom drone equipped with a Sentera Double 4K sensor that can calculate NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) and NDRE (Normalized Difference Red-Edge Index) by filtering out red and NIR wavelengths was used for the multispectral research. These data enables the monitoring of crop height and biomass and the assessment of the thermal properties and the photosynthetic activity of the crop, respectively. A crucial work phase is the data management of these remotely sensed data by which we gain point-cloud and raster from semi-raw formats and photogrammetry analysis can commence. For validation, the results of field measurements for crop height, general status and chlorophyll content were applied by virtue of the high spatial resolution provided by the sensors. Based on the results, the considerable relation was found between the field and RS based data to survey the surface, the height and health status of the maize, which contributes to the mapping of a proper vegetation patterns fostering variable rate irrigation prescription maps. Dátum:2023
Megjegyzések:Most of the climate scenarios predict increased water scarcity in arid areas, such as Hungary. However, the irrigated area in Hungary covers 2% of agricultural land, mostly with outdated irrigation technology. The aim of the research was to develop the basis of a variable rate irrigation for water-saving precision sprinkler irrigation system on an arable area (85 ha) which is located in the reference area of the Tisza Riven Basin. There is limited available water resources at the site, therefore alternative water sources utilization system was set up for irrigation to adapt to climate change and reduce fertilizers. The basis of the alternative water resources are excess water, treated wastewater, biogas fermentation sludge which is collected in a water reservoir with 114000 m3 capacity. For proper irrigation scheduling, heterogeneity of topography, hydrological, soil and crop conditions has to be explored and monitored. Therefore physically-based modelling of the water balance and remote sensing-based surplus water and vegetation status surveying are tested to use for accurate irrigation scheduling. Shallow groundwater and/or soil compaction can also contribute to excess inland water. This may occur even if there are drought periods in a year (e.g. in the Pannonian region), resulting in spots with a low crop yield. A LiDAR-based digital elevation model was found to provide appropriate data to identify sites affected by excess inland water. The spots identified can be used as spatial input data to compile a variable rate irrigation prescription map for imposing reduced (or zero) irrigation at areas more vulnerable to the occurrence of excess inland water. The water balance was also assessed for sites with physically-based models. Hydrus was used to model soil moisture changes at the Hungarian case study site. A model concept for crop evapotranspiration estimation was also developed based on vegetation indices calculated from satellite imagery. Several combinations of sensors and remote sensing products were tested to use in ETc modelling potentially. This approach was tested both at the Hungarian case study sites. Remote sensing-based analysis of crop evapotranspiration, combined with physically-based modelling, appears to be a promising method in water balance modelling of maize fields, especially if these fields are in summer when the crop is fully developed. However, the remotely sensed information verification is essential for the proper utilization of the remote sensing data in ETc modelling and predicting the spatio-temporal dynamics of crop yield, evapotranspiration, and irrigation demands. There is a need further benchmark scenarios to improve both physically-based models and satellite-based crop evapotranspiration models to achieve more accurate and valid simulations.

Cím:Wheat Yield Forecasting for the Tisza River Catchment Using Landsat 8 NDVI and SAVI Time Series and Reported Crop Statistics / Attila Nagy, Andrea Szabó, Odunayo David Adeniyi, János Tamás
Dátum:2021
ISSN:2073-4395
Megjegyzések:Due to the increasing global demand of food grain, early and reliable information on crop production is important in decision making in agricultural production. Remote sensing (RS)-based forecast models developed from vegetation indices have the potential to give quantitative and timely information on crops for larger regions or even at farm scale. Different vegetation indices are being used for this purpose, however, their efficiency in estimating crop yield certainly needs to be tested. In this study, wheat yield was derived by linear regressing reported yield values against a time series of six different peak-seasons (2013?2018) using the Landsat 8-derived Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Soil Adjusted Vegetation Index (SAVI). NDVI- and SAVIbased forecasting models were validated based on 2018?2019 datasets and compared to evaluate the most appropriate index that performs better in forecasting wheat production in the Tisza river basin. Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency index was positive with E1 = 0.716 for the model from NDVI and for SAVI E1 = 0.909, which means that the forecasting method developed and performed good forecast efficiency. The best time for wheat yield prediction with Landsat 8-SAVI and NDVI was found to be the beginning of full biomass period from the 138th to 167th day of the year (18 May to 16 June; BBCH scale: 41?71) with high regression coefficients between the vegetation indices and the wheat yield. The RMSE of the NDVI-based prediction model was 0.357 t/ha (NRMSE: 7.33%). The RMSE of the SAVI-based prediction model was 0.191 t/ha (NRMSE 3.86%). The validation of the results revealed that the SAVI-based model provided more accurate forecasts compared to NDVI. Overall, probable yield amount is possible to predict far before harvest (six weeks earlier) based on Landsat 8 NDVI and SAVI and generating simple thresholds for yield forecasting, and a potential loss of wheat yield can be mapped.

ISSN:1531-0353
Megjegyzések:Due to population growth, freshwater resources around the world are becoming increasingly scarce, and the water supply in agriculture has emerged as one of the limitations of food production. Variable-rate irrigation (VRI), a type of precision irrigation, allows water-efficient irrigation techniques to ensure an optimal water supply. The University of Debrecen, in collaboration with Magt ar Kft., was the first in Hungary to develop a new laterally mobile irrigation machine equipped with VRI. The subject of our study was the testing of this system. According to the research, high and homogeneous irrigation uniformity was achieved in practice, with a Christiansen uniformity coefficient (CUc%) of 93 ± 2, distribution uniformity (DU%) of 88 ± 2 and coefficient of variation (CV) of 9 ± 2. Irrigation accuracy was also found to be satisfactory (mean absolute error 0.6 ± 0.1, mean bias error 0.2 ± 0.2, normalized root mean square error 8.6 ± 2), and only 1.4% ± 2% was overirrigated and 0.4% ± 0.3% underirrigated. In addition, the uniformity and accuracy of irrigation in different management zones along the pipeline were also investigated, and significant differences (p < 0.05) were found between irrigation water depths. Based on the above, a new laterally mobile irrigation machine equipped with VRI can be used to develop more uniform and accurate irrigation schedules in the future in arable fields as this is critical for water-saving irrigation management.
