Cím:Internal dynamics of patent reference networks using the Bray-Curtis dissimilarity measure / József Baranyi, Szilveszter Csorba, Zsuzsa Farkas, Tünde Pacza, Ákos Józwiak
Dátum:2024
ISSN:2196-1115
Megjegyzések:Patents are indicators of technological developments. The science & technology categories, to which they are assigned to, form a directed, weighted network where the links are the references between patents belonging to the respective categories. This network can be conceived as a kind of intellectual ecology, lending itself to mathematical analyses analogous to those carried out in numerical ecology. The non-metric Bray?Curtis dissimilarity, commonly used in quantitative ecology, can be used to describe the internal dynamics of this network.

Cím:MilkyBase- A Database for Molecular-Level Mapping of the Composition of the Human Milk / Pacza Tünde ; Mayara L. Martins ; Müller Katalin ; Baranyi József
Dátum:2023
Megjegyzések:Human milk is an optimal source of nutrition for infants, whose composition varies dynamically depending on maternal, infant and measurement conditions. The objective of this study was to create a comprehensive database of the biochemical composition of human milk based on scientific publications, which can provide a tool to explore the complexity of human milk. Data selection was performed using a natural language processing algorithm augmented with manual methods, while focusing on quantitative data of human milk components, mainly dynamic data showing the variation of components over time. The data were organised into a new tree-structured ontology and the biochemical components were recorded as responses to different classified and quantified conditions. The database provides detailed information on the composition of human milk. The organisation of the fields reflects the fact that the biochemical composition of human milk can be considered as a dynamic response to maternal and infant characteristics, as well as to measurement methods and other conditions, thus giving way to predictive possibilities. The database is a valuable resource for researchers investigating the composition and potential health benefits of human milk. It is also intended to provide a platform for users to put their own data into a standardised format and analyse it against the published data. The database can also identify gaps in knowledge and help plan what new experiments are needed to achieve the critical mass of data needed for decision making in both business and science.

Cím:Modelling the temporal changes in human milk composition / Pacza Tünde; Baranyi József
Dátum:2024
Megjegyzések:Introduction: Human Milk (HM), our first and most complex nutrition, is essential for a child's development and has an impact on immediate and distant health. Despite extensive research, its complexity remains unexplored. Purpose: We developed a database (MilkyBase) from published data on human milk's biochemical composition. It is now a publicly available resource for identifying temporal patterns in the HM composition as a function of associated factors. We demonstrate how predictive modelling can be applied to human milk research. Methods: Data on HM components, influenced by various maternal, infant, and environmental factors, were compiled in an MS Excel database. The organization of the fields reflects the fact that the HM biochemical composition can be considered a dynamic response to maternal and infant characteristics, as well as to measurement methods and other conditions, thus giving way to predictive potentials. Then a model was fitted to data available in the Milky Base database. Results: Patterns revealed in the human milk components confirmed the standard temporal division of HM into colostrum- transitional- and mature stages The temporal trajectories of specific components were described by a two-phase primary model: an initial linear phase postpartum and a subsequent phase converging to a steady state. This suggests adopting non-equidistant sampling times for data collection, especially after the first week postpartum. Secondary modelling showed that the overall variation in component concentrations is mostly due to biological differences between individual mothers, rather than geographic location. Significance: The constructed database is a resource to understand and quantify the role that different conditions can play in HM composition.

Cím:MilkyBase, a database of human milk composition as a function of maternal-, infant- and measurement conditions / Tünde Pacza, Mayara L. Martins, Maha Rockaya, Katalin Müller, Ayan Chatterjee, Albert-László Barabási, József Baranyi
Dátum:2022
ISSN:2052-4463
Megjegyzések:This study describes the development of a database, called MilkyBase, of the biochemical composition of human milk. The data were selected, digitized and curated partly by machine-learning, partly manually from publications. The database can be used to find patterns in the milk composition as a function of maternal-, infant- and measurement conditions and as a platform for users to put their own data in the format shown here. The database is an Excel workbook of linked sheets, making it easy to input data by non-computationally minded nutritionists. The hierarchical organisation of the fields makes sure that statistical inference methods can be programmed to analyse the data. Uncertainty quantification and recording dynamic (time-dependent) compositions offer predictive potentials.
