Cím:COVID-19 impact in sourcing in Global Value Chains / Balázs Bence Dienes, Dejsi Qorri, János Felföldi
Dátum:2024
Megjegyzések:This study explores the impact of COVID-19 on Global Value Chains (GVCs) using the Eurostat dataset, focusing on trade barriers and the difficulty of sourcing raw materials or intermediate goods from local and international suppliers. Using a contingency table grouped by country, we can see how raw material constraints and COVID-19's GVCs affect many countries. The study uses Chi-square test to determine if these factors have a significant association. The data imply that foreign sourcing presents less challenges for suppliers than domestic sourcing, stressing the need of examining the consumer behaviour under uncertainties to develop GVCs resilience. The findings show a statistically significant link between barriers related to raw material and the effect level of COVID-19 in global value chains across all countries analysed. Suggesting that it is unlikely to have happened by random chance alone, highlighting the importance of addressing trade barriers and adapting to the impact of COVID-19 within global value chains.

Cím:Global Value Chains: Sourcing Strategies for Resilience amidst COVID-19 / Balázs Bence Dienes, Dejsi Qorri, János Felföldi
Dátum:2024
Megjegyzések:COVID-19 has profoundly impacted the already vulnerable pharmaceutical, agricultural, and food supply chains, leading to disruptions in their sourcing processes. Hence, it is crucial to emphasize the universal imperative of enhancing resilience in Global Value Chains across various industries in today's interconnected global economy. It seeks to explore how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted GVCs and influenced the availability of critical resources. We have investigated the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic on Global Value Chains due to its widespread disruption of supply chains, which has posed immediate challenges for businesses and necessitated resilience strategies. Our research reveals a consistent relationship between impact levels observed in domestic and international contexts. Changes in domestic impact levels closely align with those observed abroad, indicating a robust positive correlation. This correlation emphasizes the interdependence of sourcing challenges across both domestic and international spheres. We propose near-shoring as a management strategy by integrating regional market trends alongside digital transformation to optimize supply chain resilience, enabling businesses to cope with fluctuations in markets and take advantage on new possibilities.

Agricultural sector remain the main contributor in the GDP of Albania, offering opportunities for local and regional development. Despite this, the agricultural businesses are not taking advantage of big data generated from their farm activities and processes. As such, the objective of our study was to propose a solution for data management with functions of gathering, analyzing, and visualization that can improve the performance of small-medium farms in Albania. The methodology used in our study was the traditional software engineering waterfall methodology which includes the stages of planning, design, development, testing, and deployment. In addition, this study offers a strategic approach that integrates the data management in farm management, emphasizing the importance of sales and purchase data in monitoring and optimizing farm efficiency and effectiveness with practical approach. The UML (unified modeling language) use case diagram was employed to illustrate the interaction between business process and farm management activities. In addition, the C# programming language and ASP.NET framework along with SQL (structured query language) are used to implement functions above mentioned belonging to the design and development steps in the waterfall model. Furthermore, to achieve an efficient and functional management system we conducted a comprehensive SWOT in-depth analysis using quantitative and qualitative variables related to innovation, education, and labor market, drawing on data from Institute of Statistics of Albania, World Bank, and various Empirical studies. The findings suggest that implementing data-driven solutions can enhance the effectiveness of small-medium size farms in Albania. Additionally, the study identifies the opportunities and challenges associated with implementing data-driven solutions to optimize farm management in Albania.

Cím:Data-driven Solution for Agri-SMEs Optimization in Albania: A Framework Using C# and .NET / Dejsi Qorri, Irida Gjermeni, János Felföldi
Dátum:2024
Megjegyzések:The Albanian economy relies heavily on the agricultural sector. However, the lack of comprehensive farm management data reduces Albanian agricultural enterprises' competitiveness in global markets. The purpose of this article is to propose the building of a data gathering, analysis, and visualization application utilizing the C# programming language and the.NET framework. Big data in agriculture can help businesses improve their efficiency, competitiveness, and performance. Drawing on current challenges in Albanian agri-SMEs, it presents a logical structure for a web application designed to improve small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in theagricultural sector by easing sales and purchase monitoring while optimizing profitability. The study suggests that data-driven solutions are essential for agricultural optimization in Albania, with guidelines for future refinement and implementation.

Megjegyzések:The integrative role of human resource management continues to rise as a topic in sustainable and smart agriculture. This dual focus emphasizes new solutions for agricultural businesses and rural areas, incorporating academic concepts with practical implementations to address the pressing challenges coming from the implementation of labor-saving technologies. The study employs the integrative review method, along with science mapping of literature. After a careful selection of studies from the Scopus database, we included 149 papers for our analysis. Our findings suggest that the overall scholarly work has been concentrated on the topics of entrepreneurship and organizational structure. We conclude that the literature is mostly directed toward sustainability development goals such as gender, diversity, and youth. The current trends topics are "collective action" and "artificial intelligence". Furthermore, our study offered insights into developing and emerging themes, trends, and future directions. The HRM functions that play a pivotal role in the adoption of labor-saving technology adoption are knowledge management, change management, labor allocation, sustainability allocation, and regulatory compliance. Moreover, we provided the practical implementation of the HRM roles and future directions. This study benefits agricultural researchers, agricultural managers, and policymakers because it gives a comprehensive and interdisciplinary perspective.

Cím:Exploring cooperation dynamics from suppliers' side within evolving of supply chain networks / Dejsi Qorri, János Felföldi
Dátum:2024
Megjegyzések:In the last decade, the uncertainties due to COVID-19 and Wars, have made doing business a challenge. As such, this paper aims to investigate the effectiveness of cooperation in addressing challenges within business networking, specifically focusing on suppliers in the food industry. We conducted a systematic review of relevant literature using academic databases such as Scopus, Google Scholar, and PubMed; industry reports. Initially, we retrieved 3787 bibliometric data from the scholars databases and industry reports, which were reduced to 890 documents after applying the PRISMA guidelines. . These documents were filtered using the following keywords: "business networks", "supply chain cooperation", "business relations challenges", and "social networks". We utilized a 2x2 matrix to categorize and analyse the data based on two key dimensions: "level of cooperation in supply chains" and the "impact of challenging business relations". We supported our findings with data obtained from EUROSTAT database. We identified the gaps in current research and trends regarding the effectiveness of cooperation in addressing challenges within business networking. We visualized our findings in a 2x2 matrix and suppliers' networking diagram, to provide a tangible representation of the cause-and-effect relationship between cooperation and business relations.

Cím:Research Trends in Agricultural Marketing Cooperatives : a Bibliometric Review / Dejsi Qorri, János Felföldi
Dátum:2024
ISSN:2077-0472
Megjegyzések:In the last decade, agricultural cooperatives have become increasingly popular in the food industry. This paper aims to shed light on the extensive literature on agricultural cooperatives. Design/Methodology/Approach: In conducting this review, we applied the bibliometric review method. Initially, we retrieved 1249 bibliometric data from the Scopus database, which were reduced to 364 documents after applying the PRISMA guidelines. The data were filtered using the following keywords: "agricultural marketing cooperatives", "agricultural marketing societies", "performance", "value chains", and "supply chains". Findings: According to our findings, the present research is primarily focused on smallholders, sustainability, and supply chain management topics. We found that current research lacks an understanding of why agricultural cooperatives fail in terms of finances, investments, and implementation of strategies. We conclude that agricultural marketing cooperatives in their current state and legal form might not be flexible enough to compete in markets due to global and sustainability concerns. Finally, we provide a practical roadmap for researchers, investors, policymakers, and non-profits. Limitations: The main limitation of our review is that it contains only studies found in Scopus and examines only the English language literature. Originality/Value: Bibliometric analyses focused on agriculture cooperatives are scarce, and this paper provides a broader perspective of the existing literature. Moreover, it identifies research gaps and current trends in the field while providing a detailed description of how agricultural cooperative research has evolved over time.
