Megjegyzések:The aim of this paper is to evaluate China's growing geopolitical importance through a brief overview and an analysis of the US-Chinese relations after World War II. After a brief historical insight into the US trade policy, the most probable theoretical explanations leading to a U-turn in trade relations with most of the world are summed up. Thirdly, we aim to revaluate China's geopolitical weight in light of the recent trade war, and finally further sophisticate the analysis through a case study of the market of rare earth metals and compounds. The conclusion is drawn that we might be approaching a new milestone in the hegemonic transfer but we have certainly not yet arrived at a turning point.

Megjegyzések:Nowadays our everyday life is unimaginable without energy, because all the sectors are using different forms of energy. In our article we decided to analyse the following question: what is the current economic status and situation of the energy companies in Central and Eastern Europe? We prepared our primary research by the use of a standard fixed-effect panel regression model to analyse the capital structure of the energy industry companies. The capital structure regression gave similar results in terms of parameter sign, while the firm size, profitability (ROA) and liquidity ratio have significant coefficients in all cases from Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Romania, and Hungary. Asset structure denoted the fixed assets over total assets. According to the estimates, larger companies have higher share of leverage and may have easier access to external financing sources. The profitability of the firms (captured by ROA) and leverage had a negative relationship, thus profitable firms were less likely to rely on external finance.

Megjegyzések:Although Russia has been able to circumvent Western strategic embargoes, this study shows that this does not indicate the failure of sanctions. Sanctions are mechanisms that impose significant economic costs on those affected and provide other actors with previously unavailable benefits. 4 M Abstract Isolating Russia from technology - how effective is the West`s strategic embargo? ÁDÁM MÁRKUS - DÓRA MEZŐ - VERONIKA FENYVES - LÁSZLÓ ERDEY The study provides a detailed analysis of the impact of the strategic embargo imposed on Russia on dual-use products classified as "high priority" by the European Union and its allies. Drawing on the most detailed and up-to-date data available and taking a broader view, the paper confirms that Russia`s isolation has been relatively unsuccessful in the short term in the product group in question. In a disrupted system of geopolitical relations, the sanctions have reinforced some shifts that had already begun and, in some cases, have had unexpected consequences. The use of intermediary countries in foreign trade has led to significant price increases and deterioration in the quality of critical goods for Russia. The effectiveness of sanctions should not be assessed based on the otherwise unattainable requirements of a total blockade, but rather on their ability to cause lasting economic and strategic tensions in the target country. This is one of the most important conclusions of this paper.
