Dátum:2006
Megjegyzések:The shelter-belts play a very important role in the protection against wind erosion since they considerably decrease the wind speed and diminish the size of the parcels, thus, impeding the movement of the soil particles. In addition to the above, a positive impact on the microclimate may be also experienced which also contributes to the protection of the parcels. In Hungary, the first afforestations started in the times of Maria Theresa (at that time) with the specific purpose of binding the sand. The large-scale afforestation and the creation of shelter-belts in the Great Plain were started in the 19th-20th century part of which were de-stroyed in the 1960s and 1970s with the creation of large parcels. For future purposes, the re-forestation of the shelter-belts is an important task together with maintenance of the existing ones. The images received by remote sensing may provide great assistance in this, since the changes in the forest areas may be detected on a daily frequency with the help of the satellites.
