Megjegyzések:	The goal of the paper is to give a classification of the variational equations. The main tool is the concept of spray, that is, a vector field S on the tangent bundle TM of the manifold M such that JS=C, where J is the vertical endomorphism and C the Liouville field. A variational spray is a spray such that there exists a nondegenerate Lagrangian E such that iSddJE=d(E?LCE). The above problem is equivalent to the characterization of the variational sprays. The main part of the paper is devoted to the study of the case where obstructions appear to allow the spray to be variational. These are sprays with isotropic curvature. Necessary and sufficient conditions are given to make these sprays variational. The general case is not very different and some hints are given.
